aamove1.jpgA lot of preparation work in addition to lots of volunteer time was put into making the move across the street a reality. American Airlines, Dade County, Odebrecht Construction, T.Y. Lin Engineering all collaborated on a class-A job. The students of George T. Baker Aviation school are the very fortunate recepients of this 6 million dollar MD80 jet that will hopefully inspire students to make aviation a career!

aamove5.jpgThe crane took the MD80 on a left turn from the airport perimeter, over the palm trees as seen here and finally set it down in the middle of the intersection
aamove6.jpgI had the crane operator stop the crane drop at this point in order to get one final shot in the air and it had to be timed just right so the fuselage was under the traffic signal pole

aamove10.jpgTug is attached and ready to tow down the street before left turn into school
aamove11.jpgThis was probably the most challenging part of the MD80 move. The right main gear had to ride on the center median in order for the already shortened wings to clear both sides of the street. At this point, the MD80 would be tugged to the left to it's final resting place

IFLCONVAIR_BWCOLOR_MIA0410.jpgI made a significant change to this photo; I left the airplanes in color but changed everything else in the photo to black and white. I chose to do this because here is a propeller airplane from the 1940's, and behind it is an ultra-modern propeller driven airplane from the 90's, so the contrast in airplanes begs for contrast with the airplanes and their environment in this photo. I know that some of you will really love this!

JETBLUE_A320_LAX_0210jpavnet.jpgThis Jetblue A320, featuring a 10th anniversary livery has special meaning to me. I flew with Jetblue on February 11, 2000, before the airline began operations. On the flights from JFK-BUF, BUF-JFK, JFK-FLL, FLL-JFK were Jetblue's founder and CEO at the time, David Neeleman, David Barger (the current CEO), in addition to other lucky folks who got to fly on Jetblue that day before the company began operations that evening (JFK-FLL). The lights you see in the sky are a departing airplane on runway 25R

southwest737N711HK.jpgThis beautiful Southwest 737 is a retro-jet painted in the old colors, but with a twist. The registration is N711HK which signifies Herb Kelleher, Southwest's former CEO. In addition, what makes this color scheme different than just the old livery is that Southwest applied extra clear coat making the color scheme even shinier and more dramatic
