IMG_3398.jpgEverything supporting the A380 requires specialization as my good friends at JFK, LAX, MIA and FRA can tell you. Boarding the airplane requires the use of 3 jet bridges (the 3rd one is there, it is mostly blocked by the #2 bridge)

Taken on board F-WWJB during its JFK stopover when it was touring major world airports, this photo depicts a couple of monitors which show cabin temperature controls, and the top monitor of course reflects the tail mounted camera, which is pretty neat when the airplane is taking off/landing for passengers to enjoy watching

I am sitting in the cockpit of this beautiful A330-200 as we are cruising over the Atlantic at 41,000 feet (as seen on the display in the middle of the screen). cubnacargoTU204CUC1703UIO0211.jpgWhat a pleasure to see this rare airliner! Cubana TU204 is a Russian made airliner with lots of Western parts (engines, avionics especially). The only airport in North America this airplane operates into is YYZ (Toronto), otherwise you have to get it in Havana or South/Central America

9A_dc7startup.jpgUnlike today's props and jets, back in the 50's and 60's, this is what a passenger sitting in my seat would see when the engine "fires up". The fire and some of the oil you see there are completely normal for this vintage airliner

5_dc7insideduringflight.jpgView of the DC7's cabin in flight. As you can see, head room is not an issue. Note that the seats are not original (they were taken from a DC9), and when in service with Eastern, there were luggage racks (not bins, racks)

4_dc7flightmap.jpgThis nice route map is installed in the bulkhead of the cabin, it denotes the original routes the DC7 flew back in the late 50's and through the 60's

3_dc7cockpitinflight.jpg
3_dc7cockpitinflight.jpgI didn't really have a chance to take quality cockpit photos so I snapped off this quick one. Note that the captain and co-pilot are a father and son duo. I am told that the number of pilots that can captain a DC7 these days numbers in the single digits. Most of them have unfortunately perished
